Asia’s Largest Leather Complex in Bantala(Kolkata) is set to receive massive investment.
The Kolkata Leather Complex is expected to see investments worth ₹10,000 crore.
The sprawling 1,150-acre leather complex in Bantala is set to add 187 tanneries and 139 footwear units, creating 2.5L employment opportunities in the near future.

A huge 10,000 crore investment that will create 2.5 lakh jobs is coming up at Leather Complex which is now renamed as Karma Diganta by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
Bantala has already received 25000 Cr+ investment employing 5L+ people on 1150 acres
A review meeting was conducted by CM Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna. Banerjee chaired a review meeting at the Bantala Leather Complex at Nabanna in the presence of chief secretary B P Gopalika and senior officials of the state secretariat. Regional Chairman Council for Leather Exports Ramesh Juneja and representatives from the leather goods park attended the meeting at Nabanna.The meeting saw detailed discussions regarding the infrastructure of the leather complex.The state government has already spent Rs 1900 crore on infrastructure development that includes solid and liquid waste management, drinking water facilities, road and sewerage.

after the meeting Mr. Alapan Banerjee, Chief Advisor to The CM of West Bengal, said – “Employment generation has always been a major focus of the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. With the new units operational, the total employment from Karmadiganta alone will be 7.5 lakh. With more investments, exports will naturally increase,”
A 28 gallon drinking water project is also being constructed there with an investment of ₹475 crore.
