In a major development in West Bengal’s ongoing primary teacher recruitment scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a chargesheet against state minister Chandranath Sinha. The Calcutta High Court ordered a probe into the matter, following which the CBI and ED were brought into the investigation.
Multiple arrests were made, including top officials and former education ministers. The involvement of current ministers like Chandranath Sinha raised questions about the depth of the corruption network.

Governor Sukanta Majumdar, who has often criticized the state administration over law and order issues, gave his official consent for prosecution against Chandranath Sinha. However, opposition parties and many civil society groups have welcomed the chargesheet, demanding swift justice and recovery of lost job opportunities for genuine candidates.
