ITC Infotech to Build New IT Campus in New Town, Creating 5,000 Jobs: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal is set to witness a significant boost in the IT sector as ITC Infotech prepares to establish a modern IT campus in New Town, Kolkata. Announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself, the new campus will create employment opportunities for approximately 5,000 IT professionals, marking a major milestone for the state’s technology industry.

The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has recently granted the occupancy certificate for ITC Infotech’s IT and ITES campus, situated in Action Area-III of New Town. This follows the earlier allocation of 17 acres of land by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO). The occupancy certificate certifies that the construction complies with all safety and administrative regulations, making the buildings fit for occupancy.

Mamata Banerjee highlighted that the Bengal Silicon Valley, a dedicated tech hub in the state, has been attracting top IT firms from across India and the world. ITC Infotech, one of India’s leading IT companies, has proposed an investment of around ₹1,200 crore for this campus development. The facility spans over 1.45 million square feet and includes three main buildings: a high-rise office tower, a business support center, and a knowledge campus.

This state-of-the-art campus will not only generate thousands of jobs but also position West Bengal as a preferred destination for national and international digital and technology investments. Mamata Banerjee believes this will accelerate the state’s progress and contribute significantly to its economic growth.

Earlier this year, during the World Bengal Business Summit, Mamata had announced the ITC Infotech IT campus in Rajarhat as a key step forward in expanding Bengal’s IT infrastructure. ITC Infotech Chairman Sanjeev Puri also attended the 2025 summit inauguration, expressing confidence in West Bengal due to its lower operational costs and supportive business environment.

As the IT industry continues to grow rapidly in Bengal, this new campus is poised to become a central hub for innovation, employment, and economic development in the region.
