A dozen locations in Jammu, including the airstrip, were targeted by artillery fire, drone and missile attacks from the Pakistani side on Thursday evening, just a day after India struck terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Security agencies said that eight missiles were launched from Pakistan, targeting the Jammu civil airport, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia, Akhnoor, and nearby areas. All were successfully intercepted by the S-400 air defence system.
They were neutralised mid-air through the coordinated deployment of advanced technologies, said sources, adding that no damage or casualties were reported.
“We were aware of such an attempt and we were fully prepared to thwart these attempts from the Pakistani side. Though it’s an evolving situation, we have neutralised all threats coming from Pakistan. So far eight projectiles, mostly surface-to-surface missiles, have been shot down by our air defence mechanisms”.
